Slovenia on the Move – Sustainable Mobility

On Monday, 3 November 2025, we held a discussion in Ljubljana on the future of sustainable mobility in Slovenia. The event brought together representatives of local communities, the professional public, and organisations working in the fields of transport, the environment, and development policies.

The central topic was the transformation of public passenger transport at the decision-making level – how to ensure greater accessibility, reliability, and environmental sustainability of a system that is crucial for the transition to a more sustainable society.

Participants highlighted several important aspects of developing public passenger transport:

A vision for the next 20 years: the need for a comprehensive, transparent, and user-friendly system that could become a real alternative to the use of private cars.

The role of the state and municipalities: improving the coordination of planning, financing, and implementing sustainable mobility policies, particularly in the areas of infrastructure and the integration of transport systems.

Accelerating the transition to sustainable mobility: the urgency of concrete systemic steps, legislative improvements, and strategic investments that would strengthen the development of modern and sustainable transport solutions.

The event showed that there is strong will in Slovenia to find pathways toward more sustainable, accessible, and user-friendly mobility. We look forward to further discussions and collaborations that will contribute to shaping a shared, long-term vision for the development of transport in Slovenia.
