The Zagreb office of the German political foundation Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung is hiring a Project Coordinator (male/female/other) for a full-time position, with employment possible at the earliest available date.

We offer a secure position (permanent contract following the probation period) in a small team with a positive working atmosphere in the very centre of Zagreb. You can expect a variety of tasks and contact with diverse groups of people from Croatia and abroad. At the same time, within our small team we value a good work-life balance – we offer flexible working hours and the possibility of occasional remote work. Your responsibilities:

  • Independent conceptualisation, planning and implementation of projects in the fields of politics and society in Croatia and Slovenia.
  • Focus on the thematic areas of socio-ecological transformation and cooperation with trade unions.

Requirements:

  • Identification with the core values of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.
  • Ability to work independently and in a solution-oriented manner, strong self-organization skills, and the ability to anticipate tasks.
  • Language skills: native-level Croatian and professional-level English (spoken and written); knowledge of German is an asset.
  • Willingness to frequent travel for business.
  • Willingness to occasionally work on weekends and evenings as part of events.
  • Interest in long-term employment at the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.
  • Completed Master’s degree, or Bachelor’s degree with several years of relevant professional experience.
  • Residence status (for non-Croatian citizens): EU citizenship or an unlimited residence and work permit for Croatia.

Additional assets:

  • Social or political engagement / volunteer work.
  • Experience working on socio-ecological transformation and/or trade union issues.
  • Flexibility in handling different types of tasks and ability to independently set priorities.
  • IT skills.
  • Category B driver’s license.
  • Availability from May 2026.
